PUMA has officially unveiled the new home jersey for Manchester City Football Club for the 2023-24 season today.
The design of the jersey takes inspiration from the club's first season at the Etihad Stadium and incorporates iconic features of the stadium to celebrate its 20th anniversary since the team moved in.
Check out PUMA Manchester City 23-24 home shirt below.
After a glorious 80-year journey at Maine Road, Manchester City relocated their home to the Etihad Stadium, located 3.5 miles away, in August 2003, marking the beginning of a new era for the club.
Since then, the stadium has witnessed numerous records, legends, and iconic moments.
The new home jersey for the 2023-24 season is a testament to this great legacy, celebrating Manchester City's 20th anniversary at their new home and honoring the Etihad Stadium and all the Manchester City fans who call it home.
The jersey features the same white V-neck design as the club's first home jersey worn during the 2003-04 season at the Etihad Stadium.
The front pattern draws inspiration from the unique architectural style of the Etihad Stadium, particularly the four massive towers visible from outside the stadium, which are translated into four circular patterns on the jersey.
The silhouette of the stadium and its postal code are displayed on the inner side of the neckline.
As an integral part of the team's new era at the Etihad Stadium, PUMA and Manchester City invited a group of "Cityzens" and club representatives, including young Manchester City fan and community participant Finlay, CITC ambassador Alex Williams, young female fan Esme, and Manchester City jersey collector Mark McCarthy, to join the first-team players in wearing the new home jersey for its official unveiling.
Club ambassador Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was a member of the team during the 2003-04 season, proudly expressed, "The Etihad Stadium has played a significant role in Manchester City's history, and players and fans have shared countless memorable moments here.
I am incredibly proud to have worn the Manchester City jersey during the first season at the Etihad.
So, it's fantastic that PUMA has drawn inspiration from the Etihad Stadium for this year's home jersey.
I hope this year's jersey will allow our fans to relive the incredible moments of the past 20 years."
"The 20th anniversary of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium is an important moment, and the club has achieved incredible growth during this time.
The new home jersey pays tribute to the countless incredible moments and unwavering support of the fans in this stadium," said Marco Mueller, Senior Head of Product Line Teamsport at PUMA. "
This jersey combines modern design elements with a tribute to the club's first season at the Etihad Stadium.
We are delighted to create a unique and meaningful jersey for the players and fans, celebrating this place they call 'home.'"
The new 2023-24 Manchester City home jersey will come in two versions.
The player's version will feature PUMA's lightest-ever performance fabric, ULTRAWEAVE, and dryCELL moisture-wicking technology.
The use of lightweight four-way stretch fabric allows for enhanced speed and agility on the field, helping the players and team perform at their best.
The fan's version of the jersey will be made from 100% recyclable polyester fabric, paired with the classic dryCELL moisture-wicking technology.
